Heineken, the leading global international premium beer brand, once again showed its strong connection with the Cambodian golfing scene by hosting the 2nd Heineken Golf Championship on the Friday 2nd of December at Garden City Golf Club.
Over eighty golfers in the Kingdom, including leading businessmen and various high profile players, joined together to compete in the second edition of the Heineken Golf Championship which is among one of the most anticipated events in the Cambodia’s golfing calendar.
The format used in the competition was a modified Peoria handicap system, adding some more fun to this already exciting event. After picking up a goody bag from registration which include branded Footjoy attire, Titleist Pro V1 golf balls and a high quality umbrella, golfers proceeded to fuel up on lunch in the hotel before gathering in front of the putting green and get ready for the shotgun start at 12:30pm.
The weather on competition day could not have been any better. Cool windy breeze, immaculate course condition and relaxing atmosphere, along with unlimited ice-cold Heineken beer makes for the perfect day for golf.
After the round has finished, the celebration continued on at the pool side of Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel where the gala dinner and prize ceremony was held. The evening was full of great fun, food, music and of course, more Heineken for golfers and their partners to enjoy.
Many Heineken branded merchandize prizes were given out; however, the biggest prizes of a brand new Iphone 7, the latest Ipad 7 and stylish Heineken bag went to the winner of the 2nd Heineken Golf Championship, Thomas Lim, who was applauded by his fellow golfers for his outstanding performance on the golf course.
A number of golfers participated in the event commented that Heineken has always been one of the biggest supporters of golf in Cambodia and is helping invigorate the premium aspect of the golfing scene by holding and sponsoring so many high-profile golf tournaments across the country.
