Cambodia Amateur Golf Ranking – Year 1 Results

In its first year, the Cambodia Amateur Golf Ranking included a total of 8 events to calculate the points to rank the best amateur golfers in the Kingdom. Each event, depending on the cooperation from the course and organizer, has a set number of points for the participants.

Depending on the gross scores, after each event, the points (including from previous events) are calculated and divided by the number of events played by the player or by the minimal divisor of 4 to get an average number of points. For the 2016 / 2017 season we continue with the first year`s results and make it a 2 year ranking with a minimal divisor of 8.

We started the ranking system in October, 2015 with the season opening event, Fire & Ice Golf Tournament, at Phokeethra in Siem Reap where Ly Hong won the event with a round of 75 and began his lead on the rankings.

The second event on the rankings was the 3rd CGA Tournament at Garden City in Phnom Penh where Koam Bunna took home the trophy and received his first 150 points. The third event on the calendar was also the first of 2016 at City Golf this time around where the City Golf First Competition of 2016 was held and where we found a new winner again in the person of Ly Kea and added 100 points to his previous 24 points.

The 4th event was down at the beach in Koh Kong province on the grounds of Dara Sakor for the 4th CGA championship, won by Meas Seng where after we returned to Garden City for the Flying Golfers Challenge from PSD Travel where Sammy Chan had the lowest gross score. Event #6 was at Grand Phnom Penh and won by youngster Peou Pichmeta and the last event before the big final, the 5th CGA Tournament was won by Seng Vanseya.

It was waiting until the big final event, the Angkor Amateur Open to see the first golfer winning 2 event in the rankings. Ly Hong took home the prestigious AAO trophy and also sealed the lead for the first year of the Cambodia Amateur Golf Ranking.

Ly Hong played a total of 3 events and besides winning the aforementioned events, he came in second at the Sor Kheng Police Anniversary event at Grand Phnom Penh giving him a total of 590 points with a 147.5 point average the clear winner and Cambodia Golf Today`s Best Amateur Golfer for 2015 / 2016.
