Cambodia Golf Today Issue 18: September – October 2017

Welcome back to the 18th edition of Cambodia Golf Today, the leading golf magazine in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The biggest and most prestigious event of the Cambodian golfing calendar, the Angkor Amateur Open, took place once again earlier in August and it was as exciting as always with a strong field of players from all over the region competing. With the absence of the reigning champion and three times winner of the event, the title of Cambodia’s best amateur golfer was up for grab. The favorite to win was non-other than last year’s runner-up, Seng Vanseiha, in which he did exactly just that. The victory was a great confidence boost as the long-hitting youngster was preparing for the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia.

Speaking of which, the regional sporting event has just concluded. The Cambodian team placed last in the men’s golf individual event and was unable to qualify for the team event. Nevertheless, I just want to commend our players for putting in the time and effort to represent Cambodia. Despite whatever the result might have been, they should be proud of themselves and keep on polishing their skills for the next SEA Games.

We are very happy to have Paul Jansen join us this issue to explain about the process of designing and building a new golf course. Regarded as one of golf’s most talented and well-traveled golf course architects, Paul have worked for Nick Faldo Design on a variety of projects in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia before he established Jansen Golf Design & Construction back in 2011.
