On January 27, City Golf in Phnom Penh celebrated their 7th anniversary in spectacular fashion with a grand golf event. 87 players joined in this festive happening at the iconic 9-hole par 3 course where Chetna Chhun, Managing Director of City Golf, was put in the spotlight at the after-party.
The competition was spread out into two separate flights, morning and afternoon. The organizing team of City Golf, with a special mention to Ly Kea and Barry Finch, did a fabulous job once again. Each group was accompanied by an independent marker to ensure correct scores are being kept and are passed on to Barry to update on the live scoring board.
Each round of the event was played from a different tee and in combination with the recently made changes to the course, it was a most enjoyable day for golf. The event attracted players from all over the country to honor the anniversary of Cambodia’s first and only short course.
After the game finished, the celebrations continued with a live band and buffet for all to enjoy. Before the announcement of the many prize winners, the attention was shifted to Chetna Chhun who was called up to the stage by the team of City Golf to blow out the candles on the cake and give a speech.
“I would like to thank everyone for joining us today to celebrate City Golf’s 7th anniversary. It’s really incredible that we have nearly 90 golfers competing today as we normally only have about 45 players in each event. Everything went really smooth today and has made it a big success.”, said Chetna.
“Here at City Golf, we try to organize competitions frequently once every few months in order to ignite interest and attract the younger generation to pick up the sport of golf. Golf is one of the sports in the SEA Games as well as the Olympics and we need young and talented golfers to represent Cambodia.” he added.
The winner of the event, all the way from Siem Reap, was Ly Hong where he equaled the event record score of 7 under over 18 holes of golf competition.
