Royal Salute, the ultimate luxury Scotch Whisky, is making a push into the Cambodian golf scene. Together in cooperation with Cambodia Golf Today, they are planning a series of golf events in combination with their whisky appreciation program in which a whisky expert is brought in to explain about their process of whisky making and what gives Royal Salute its distinguished taste. The series of events started with a friendly round of golf at the grounds of City Golf on August 23.
Even though the event was set on a weekday (Tuesday) and had a slight delay due to the rain, a full field of golfers showed up and was eager to start their round. Unexpectedly, the rain that pushed the event back made it even more fun as golfers had to adjust their game to counter against the wetness of the course.
Before the trophy ceremony took place, we were joined by a very special guest for the brief whisky appreciation program. Mr. Darren Hosie, Regional Mentoring Manager of Chivas Brothers Ltd., showed us in detail why each bottle of Royal Salute Scotch Whisky is so special. From start to finish, the process of how this first class whisky is made is an art form. On behalf of everyone that participated in the event, we can say that we now have a much deeper appreciation for the products that Royal Salute put out.
With the whisky appreciation program finished and everyone had a toast to celebrate, it was time to announce the winners. In third place on count-back is English golfer, Benjamin Whitrod, after shooting a round of -1. His Excellency Peou Maly took the honor of second place with a score of also -1. Finally, the champion of the 1st Royal Salute Friendly Tournament is Dr. Leng Tong who produced an impressive score of -3 after 9 holes.
The evening was concluded after Marc Roland Rosales, the Representative Office General Manager for Pernod Ricard Singapore in Cambodia, gave one final toast and thanked everyone for taking part in the 1st Royal Salute Friendly Tournament. Though the event had ended, guests continued to stay and enjoy the free flow of exquisite scotch whisky from Royal Salute.
With this event a success, we can definitely expect to see more of Royal Salute on the Cambodian golf courses in the near future and we hope to see you all again there.
